14 days of AutoMode at sign-up

Every new account gets 14 days of AutoMode free, with no card. The 14 days start when you confirm your email address; the dashboard shows the days left, and in the last 7 days a notice with the end date. Organizations created before this trial existed keep the plan they have. A temporary (disposable) email address cannot create an account, so the trial goes to real inboxes: sign up with a permanent one.

  • We email the owners 7, 3 and 1 day before the end, with what changes and a button to choose a plan, and once more when it has ended, with the servers paused, if any.
  • Choose a plan during the 14 days and the free period ends there: the plan you chose applies and billing starts at once.
  • Choose nothing and the organization moves to Starter at the end. Starter protects one server: the server connected first stays protected, the others are paused. The dashboard refuses a paused server, and its agent switches protection off 24 hours later (see What refused servers do); its data stays visible in the dashboard. Choosing a plan later protects them all again at their next check, within 30 minutes.

How billing works

Under Settings › Plan & billing (owners and admins):

  • choose a plan, monthly or yearly; payment goes through Stripe Checkout, which also collects your billing address and VAT number;
  • the subscription's quantity follows the number of servers (at least 1) and is adjusted automatically, prorated, when you add or remove one;
  • Switch to another paid plan: the difference for the current period is charged or credited right away;
  • Manage subscription and invoices opens the Stripe billing portal: payment method, invoices, cancellation.

After the 14 days of AutoMode at sign-up there is no second trial at checkout: a plan is charged from the day you choose it. Organizations that existed before and never had a trial get one trial at checkout, with nothing charged before it ends.

If a payment fails

The plan keeps working for 72 hours after the failed payment, and the dashboard says until when. Update the payment method in the billing portal and nothing stops. If the payment has not gone through after 72 hours, the organization moves to Starter: the first server stays protected, the others are refused by the dashboard, and the panel plugins show no data. Paying again accepts them at once.

Cancelling

After a cancellation the plan stays active until the end of the paid period, then the organization goes back to Starter, with the same effect on servers beyond the first.

What refused servers do

An agent the dashboard refuses keeps protecting its server for 24 hours, then switches its protection off cleanly and leaves a notice for whoever logs in. Owners get an email 12 hours before, at the switch-off, and when access is back. See When the dashboard is unreachable.
